When I got the call from ImageInk Studio to do a photo shoot with the guys from Top Gear I thought they might have the wrong number – I mean, what do cars and pole dancing have in common – apart from you seeing pics of hot girls draped over both?

Well, Volvo seems to want to spice up their image and they’ve brought out a car called the Polestar, so the Editor of Top Gear thought it would be great fun to send one of his journalists, Craig, to see me and learn how to pole dance, in honor of the new car.

On the only sunny day in March we got up just before sunrise and took shots down at Curly beach to set the scene for the magazine storyline.  Everything was going well until one of the pole stage pieces cut open my toe, but a lovely lifesaver patched me up and we went on with the show – so to speak.

Next we popped the X-Pole back in the car and met a couple of my girlfriends at the Pole4Fun studio so I could teach Craig a few tricks.  There were wide eyes and pink cheeks when we started the warm-up up with some hip bumps and rolls, but he was a good sport and made sure he warmed up like the rest of us.; although having his workmate Nick sniggering in the corner didn’t help with his nerves.

Craig wonders how he can try to squeeze on the pole too.

Once Craig had mastered some killer moves Pole Dance Aus got to have a play with a pole on Manly Corso.  It caused quite a stir among the tourists and locals but it was the emergency services who showed particular interest.  We had a couple of police cars, an ambulance and even a couple of council marshals hanging around to watch us pole dance.

The day was a success and I think we have a new pole dance enthusiast at the Top

Gear office.  Craig wasn’t too impressed with the loss of hair around his knees or the pole kisses (bruises), but not falling on his head in front of the crowds down at Manly seem to be weighing heavier on his mind!
