The Crowie Comp Was Fit For a Princess
As always, there were nerves backstage at the latest pole dancing competition. You’d never know it once the girls (and Matty) all got on-stage and performed though.
There were tricks a-plenty and some of the closest drops to the floor that I’ve seen. My heart is always in my throat when the girls drop from the top and catch themselves just before they hit the floor, and this time it was no different.
Alongside the practiced drops there were a couple of the unwanted kind, along with a few high heel wobbles, but the girls showed how polished they were with great catches and recoveries and thus avoided any big bangs.
A couple of themes worth a mention were Andrea in her pirate outfit and Amber as an A-Ray cheerleader. Both made a great
entrance, I felt sorry for the pole when Andrea fought it with her giant sword and, as only Amber can, there was a great old-fashioned cheer with pom poms to open her show. What’s extra note-worthy is that she only made it up moments before getting onstage.
Matty made for a good special guest performer. We were giggling about his sparkly shorts back stage because he matched Dallas’ outfit. A little later on I laughed out loud when he appeared on stage shaking pom poms in Amber’s cheerleader skirt .
One of the guys I was with, Sean, said how “it’s all about the music” and that echos true to me. I’m instantly more drawn to a performance if I enjoy the accompanying music. I don’t need to know the track, but it has to sound good to me. One great track was Rhianna’s ‘Love The Way You Lie’ – so thanks to Georgie I got to hear something that I love while she used her great strength to pull off a good show.
Along with good music there also needs to be a good outfit. It’s not so important to me that it’s of a movie or known theme, but it should be something that matches the music and dance. Dallas looked great in her b ball cap and gave us all a giggle when he stripped off her top as she took a bow and said how she meant to take that off earlier. Shimmy had a simple, yet sexy little number that showed off her elegant figure and Foxy and Kat both chose well-cut bottoms to frame their stunning tummies. I had to ask Foxy if Suzie had been right to announce that she’s had two kids – you seriously couldn’t tell.
Speaking of Suzie, she was all glamour and gossip again as the lovely hostess for the evening and her outfits deserve a mention too; especially the stunning one that she poured herself into to announce the winners.
Once the winners were all onstage Amber took the opportunity to take the mike to thank the Crows Nest Hotel, saying “thanks so much to the Crowie, it’s the best hotel because pole dancers just live for competitions like this”.
To finish up I’d like to give my lovely friend Dallas Dee a special mention for being such a trooper. She’d been off work sick all day with gastro, so getting out of bed was a challenge, let alone smashing out a great pole dancing routine in front of a crowd!
The winners line-ups for the 2012 Miss North Shore Pole Princess are:
Amateur – Kat placed 1st, followed by Foxy and Andrea
Professional – Miss Amber Ray placed 1st, followed by Shimmy and Dallas Dee
